Harvester Park encompasses 37 acres; 20 of these accommodate active recreational elements and represent the actual acreage. The remaining 17 acres is wetlands and riparian/prairie buffer.
The Burr Ridge Community Center is located here. Harvester Park is home to three lighted baseball fields and a soccer field and a large, multi-age appropriate playground. Additionally there are lit tennis, basketball and sand volleyball courts, and a restroom/concession stand-shelter facility. Two parking lots accommodate 225 vehicles.
The Harvester Park Wetland and Native Enhancement project continues to move foward. Following are some specifics on individual components within the project. Improvements within the Wetlands include a trail head pathway, foot bridge fishing deck, floating docks, educational area, and shoreline rocky outcroppings. There will be an educational shelter constructed, an outdoor classroom located on the west side of the Community Center. Pond improvements include eradication of non-native fish, a living/breeding habitat and aeration will be installed prior to restocking with bass, blue gills and catfish. A trail head playground, plant community restoration, and educational/interpretive interactives are scheduled for completion by Spring of 2010.
